For his period drama "Bajirao Mastani", filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali wanted no compromise on the actors, scale, look or feel of the project, says its casting director Shruti Mahajan.
Having collaborated with Bhansali for his directorial "Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela" and production "Mary Kom", Mahajan is aware that the filmmaker has a pulse of exactly what he wants in his films.
"'Bajirao Mastani' has been Mr. Bhansali's dream project. He knew exactly what he wanted and did not want to compromise on scale, look, feel and local flavours at any point.
"He's very particular about each character and wanted the perfect fit. He gives very clear instructions, 'Don't give me options, just give me the best one you have got'," Mahajan said in a statement.
"Bajirao Mastani", which released on December 18, has been praised for its impeccable performances by actors Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. Ranveer is cast as 18th century Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao I, and critics are floored by his power-packed performance.
Mahajan has earlier been a casting director for films like "Bobby Jasoos", "Finding Fanny", "Chakravyuh" and "Satyagraha".
