About 500 bikers will ride all the way to Nandi Hills, around 60 km from here, Thursday to mark the 67th Independence Day and salute freedom fighters who help end British colonial rule.
"The ride is to pay tributes to all those who fought for our freedom," Bangalore RD350 Club founder Vishal Agarwal told IANS Wednesday.
The bikers, members of a dozen biking clubs across the city and aged between 21 and 82 years, have been participating in the annual I-Day ride the last four years.
Bikes such as Yamaha RD350, Royal Enfield Bullet, KTM, Pulsar, Scooter, FZ and Yamaha R15, sports bikes like Yamaha R1 and Haya Busa and non-geared bikes like Suzuki GXR will feature in the event.
"As part of the event, we campaign for safe riding among young bikers who get carried away by speed and resort to rash riding on city roads," Agarwal said.
Organisers will ensure that every participant carries driving license with documents and is equipped with riding gear to prevent any untoward incident.

"Participation by more bikers every year has motivated us to continue the event, which has become popular," Bikers of India Club co-founder M. Anil Babu said.
The day-long event will start from Columbia Asia Hospital in northwest of the city early Thursday.
