BJP's Asha Sharma was on Friday elected the mayor of Ghaziabad, defeating her nearest rival, Dolly Sharma of the Congress, by a margin of 1,63,657 votes.
The Bharatiya Janata Party candidate secured 2,82,793 votes while the Congress candidate could secure 1,19,118 votes.
Bahujan Samaj Party's Munni Chaudhary was at the third spot, securing 77,033 votes while Samajwadi Party's Rashi Garg could secure only 40,623 vot s. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Pragati Tyagi secured 13,656 votes while Rashtriya Lok Dal candidate Kusum Raghav stood at sixth by securing only 9,402 votes.
The total 13 candidates were in the fray, said district Information Officer V.B. Singh.
