BJP's West Bengal unit President Dilip Ghosh on Thursday dared the Trinamool Congress government to recommend a CBI probe into the killing of its party activist Srinu Naidu.
"I challenge them to go for a CBI investigation probe regarding the murder. Names of many Trinamool leaders would come up in the issue. It is a case of in-fighting within the party," Ghosh said.
Five Trinamool Congress activists were on Wednesday shot at inside the Trinamool's party offce at Kharagpur. Naidu and fellow activist V Dharma were declared dead at a Kolkata hospital on Wednesday evening.
Trinamool Congress' General Secretary Subrata Bakshi urged the police to look into the role of Ghosh, the Kharagpur MLA, in the incident as he allegedly threatened the deceased with dire consequences earlier.
But Ghosh dismissed the charges.
"These are baseless allegations. The state has turned into a safe haven for criminals under the TMC. The BJP has got nothing to do with it (the incident)," he said.
