The BJP on Monday condemned the killing of a RSS activist in Kerala and hit out at the state's ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist by dubbing it as a "Maoist" government.
"We condemn the brutal killing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh worker in Thrissur. Despite our campaign in the state, the killer brigade is active. The ruling party is acting like Maoists. The CPI-M has become CPI-Maoists," Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar told reporters here.
RSS activist Anand was killed on Sunday, allegedly by CPI-M workers, after a group of persons riding a car knocked down his two-wheeler. He was then hacked to death.
Javadekar, a senior BJP leader, accused the state government of suppressing the voice of the opposition and demanded justice in the case of the worker's killing.
"There is no place for violence in a democracy. The culprits must be brought to justice. Our fight will continue democratically," he said.
