Accusing the BJP of funding secessionist movements and triggering communal riots in the northern region of West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday alleged that Bengal was the 'victim of maximum neglect' under the present central government.

"This party, BJP, is flush with funds. It is conspiring from Assam on how to foment communal riots in Cooch Behar (district). The party's only motive is to trigger communal riots in North Dinajpur and South Dinajpur districts.

"BJP brings only briefcases to north Bengal, rather than ushering in development in the region. Nobody knows whether there is money or something else in the briefcases. BJP is only busy aiding riots and fanning secessionist movements," Banerjee said while addressing a rally called here by the youth and student wings of her party Trinamool Congress.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has in recent elections emerged as the Trinamool's main rival in the state.

"Bengal is suffering the maximum neglect during the present regime at the centre. You cannot browbeat the Trinamool by treating Bengal in a step-motherly way. Trinamool is the most transparent party in India. But still the centre is conspiring against us," said the Chief Minister.

Continuing her tirade against the BJP, she charged the party with "conspiring to throw out Bengalis from Assam".

"If Bengalis come under attack in Assam, we will protect them," she said.

Virtually throwing a challenge to the centre, she said: "I have never bowed my head. Never in life will I resort to communal politics."

Turning her attention to the Congress and the Left Front, she said these two forces were responsible for the BJP's growth in the state.

She said the Trinamool would never indulge in anti-people activities.

"In the coming days, Trinamool would perform a big role across the country. Bengal will show the way to India".
