A Bharatiya Janata Party MP has filed a complaint with the police alleging a death threat to him, an official said on Thursday.
The Lok Sabha MP from Ghosi, Harinarayan Rajbhar, in his written complaint to the police has stated that while he was attending an event in Mau on Wednesday, he got a call on his cell phone and the caller threatened to kill him.
Following this, he sent a written complaint to the police through his local representative. The police thereafter lodged a FIR under sections 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
"We have begun a probe into the matter as it pertains to a lawmaker and the phone number from which the threatening call has been made has been put on electronic surveillance," an official told IANS.
