A leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was killed on Wednesday morning in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, police said. The deceased Raja Valmiki was member of the state executive.
He was out for work in Khatoli when unidentified bike-borne assailants opened fire on him.
Eyewitnesses said there were three men who executed the killing. One bullet hit him on the head and he died instantaneously, the police said.
The police team had rushed to the spot. The assailants are yet to be apprehended.
The body has been sent for post-mortem and the area has been cordoned off, the police added.
