Uttar Pradesh's ruling Samajwadi Party on Tuesday attacked the BJP for "misleading the people" with its "bundles of lies" and billed its ongoing 'Parivartan yatras' as super flops.
Cabinet minister Rajendra Chowdhary, a close aide of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, claimed there was no attraction in the people about the 'yatras' taken out by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the party was forced to concentrate on 'naach-gaana' (music and dance) to gather crowds.
He also accused the BJP leaders of speaking lies to mislead the people and added that people of Uttar Pradesh were wise enough to see through the tactics of the BJP. "First they make promises and when they fail to deliver it, they say these were mere slogans (jumle) to hide their failures," he said.
Terming the speech of the BJP National President Amit Shah in Sonebhadra earlier in the day, a bundle of lies, Chowdhary said the four-lane road from Sonebhadra to Varanasi was made by the Chief Minister and not by the Union government. Other than this, the minister claimed, UP was growing under the able leadership of Akhilesh Yadav and that people will return him to power in the 2017 state assembly polls.
He also accused the NDA central government of not giving UP its dues and of trying to stop the development in the state.
