Trinamool Congress Secretary General Partha Chatterjee on Tuesday accused the BJP and RSS of fomenting communal tension and trying to divide society in the wake of Pulwama terror attack in Kashmir last week.
Chatterjee, also the state Education Minister, said any such attempts in Bengal to polarise the society will be strictly dealt with by the Mamata Banerjee government.
"The entire nation stands united in the fight against terror. But what BJP and RSS has been doing in the name of Pulwama attack is condemnable. The people of the state should resist any such attempt to divide the people on communal lines. There are reports that BJP-RSS cadres are threatening people from specific communities," he said.
His comments came a day after Banerjee questioned the timing of the terror attack in the valley and accused the BJP-led Central government of failing to protect the lives of paramilitary personnel.
