The BJP Saturday the targeted Congress over its leader Rahul Gandhi trashing a cabinet approved-ordinance to save convicted lawmakers from disqualification and said it showed the "government could go wrong but not the family".
"Rahul Gandhi has hinted that the government can do wrong but not the (Nehru-Gandhi) family," Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi trashed the ordinance Friday saying "it should be tron and thorwn away".
The ordinance was approved by the cabinet Sep 24 and is with President Pranab Mukherjee.
Prasad said Gandhi "gatecrashed" into a press interaction of Congress chief spokesperson Ajay Maken after Mukherjee questioned some ministers over the ordinance.
The BJP leader said Gandhi's statement was "designed to create discomfort for the president".
He asked the government what was its view on the matter now as the president acts on the advice of the union council of ministers, which had approved the ordinance and forwarded it to the president.
