The BJP on Thursday decided to hold a rally in Mathura on May 25 on the eve of the first anniversary of the Narendra Modi government, sources said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to address the rally in Mathura, the birthplace of Deendayal Upadhyay, one of the founders of Bharatiya Janata Party parent, the Jana Sangh.
The decision in this regard was taken here during a day-long training session of BJP spokespersons.
It was especially organised to arm them to counter the opposition onslaught against the government. The session was chaired by party president Amit Shah.
Union ministers Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman and Thawar Chand Gehlot addressed the spokespersons and briefed them thoroughly about the achievements of their concerned departments.
BJP spokesman Bizay Sonkar Shastri told IANS that the Modi government has done a lot on several fronts for the poor and the downtrodden, but the opposition was misleading the country by portraying the government's image as anti-poor and anti farmer.
"We have planned to counter the opposition's onslaught. We will go to the people and apprise them about the government's pro-poor steps," he said.
