The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said it will stage a silent protest across Odisha against the egg attacks on two union ministers during their visit to the state.
"The party has decided to hold the silent protest on Sunday against the egg attacks and for demanding proper investigation into the gang rape and killing of a widow in Dhenkanal district," said state BJP unit Vice President Samir Mohanty.
The protest would be held at all municipalities, Notified Area Councils (NACs) and Zilla Parishad Zones of the state, Mohanty informed.
"The attacks on union ministers by Biju Janata Dal (BJD) goons with the cooperation of police is a threat to democracy. There is no place for violence in a democracy," he added.
Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram and Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh faced egg attacks on two different occasions in the state recently.
