Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said on Monday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win a majority of seats in the eight northeastern states in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Of the 25 Lok Sabha seats, Singh told the media here that his party will win at least 20.
The leader also exuded confidence of winning both the general and reserved seats in Manipur.
"We will win the Outer Manipur constituency seat reserved for the Scheduled Tribes and the Inner constituency general seat," the Chief Minister said.
"People have seen how many persons had converged at the public meeting last week which was orgasnised by the BJP during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third visit to Manipur."
Dismissing Singh's claim, Congress MLA and party president T.N. Haokip told IANS that the BJP was on its way out.
