The ruling BJP on Sunday won mayors' posts in two municipal corporations and those of chairmen in six other urban local bodies in Madhya Pradesh, with the Congress and an Independent winning two others.
The counting of votes for these 10 urban local bodies -- where polling was held on Wednesday -- was taken up on Sunday.
Apart from the municipal corporations of Ujjain and Morena, elections were held for the municipal bodies of Vidhisha, Sarangpur, Harda and nagar parishads of Suvasara, Ghuwara, Chakghat, Kotar and Bhainsdehi.
According to the state election commission, Morena municipal corporation mayor's post was won by BJP's Ashok Argal and BJP's Meena Jonwal won the Ujjain MC mayor's post.
The BJP also won the chairmen's posts in Bhainsdehi, Chakghat, Kotara, Vidhisha, Harda and Suvasara local bodies while an Independent won the chairman's post in Ghuwara and a Congress candidate in Sarangpur municipal body.
