At least 12 soldiers were killed and three others injured Thursday when a suicide car bomb exploded at an army checkpoint in Yemen.
"A suicide bomber drove his explosives-laden car into the checkpoint of the 137th Armoured Brigade positioned at the entrance of Abar region in Hadramout province," a police official told Xinhua.
Abar region lies near the Saudi Arabia-Yemen border.
Earlier Thursday, a suspected al-Qaeda terrorist detonated explosives near a Shia Houthi gathering in Sanaa, killing 32 people.
