A number of books and videos on Mao Zedong - founder of the People's Republic of China - were released to commemorate his 120th birth anniversary.
A 50-part television series produced on the occasion covers the tumultuous period in China leading to Communist victory in 1949, Xinhua reported.
The series, which highlights Mao's role in founding Communist China, also depicts his thoughts, the revolutionary times, and his strategist and militarist sides.
Two films on Mao's friendship with contemporary Chinese artist Qi Baishi and Mao's young life in Shaoshan, Hunan province, where he was born on Dec 26, 1893, were also released.
