Indian stars Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza crashed out of the Cincinnati Masters tennis tournament after losing their respective doubles matches here on Saturday.
Bopanna and his Croatian partner Ivan Dodig were beaten 1-6, 7-6, 7-10 by second seeds Marcelo Melo of Brazil and Lukasz Kubot of Poland in a men's doubles quarter-final tie that lasted one hour and 36 minutes.
The Indo-Croatian duo were outclassed in the opening set but produced a much improved performance in the second set to comeback into the match. But they failed to clinch the decisive set despite producing a spirited fight.
In the women's doubles, Sania and her Chinese partner Shuai Peng lost 4-6, 6-7 to Hsieh Su-wei of Taiwan and Monica Niculescu of Romania in the semi-finals.
The Indo-Chinese pair gave a close fight in both sets before going down in one hour and 33 minutes.
