Left Front chairman Biman Boseon Monday demanded strict action against those involved in the newborn child trafficking case and said the West Bengal government should take initiative to unearth the scandal quickly.

"Running such a business with small kids is unthinkable. It should be unearthed quickly and those involved in the child trafficking racket should face stern punishment," Bose said.

The veteran Communist Party of India-Marxist leader also raised the question on how some of the hospitals that are involved in this racket, were allowed to run without proper licences.

"The state government and the Chief Minister should have come up with a statement on the issue and should have given an explanation as to how those hospitals were allowed to run without a proper license. They haven't come up with any as yet," he said.

He also referred to the the poor condition of the infants who had to be hospitalised after recovery.

"According to the doctors, two kids out of the the ten recovered from the Thakurpukur old age home are in critical condition. It's a pity that they went through so much at this age," he said.
