Actor G. Gautham, who is the son of ace comedian Brahmanandam, made his acting debut in 2009 with Telugu romantic-drama "Pallakilo Pelli Koothuru". He is making a comeback with upcoming realistic action-drama "Basanti" in the same language.
The film, which is being directed by Chaitanya Dantuluri, will be based on realistic events.
"I did do a film in between called 'Vaareva' in 2010, but since then haven't found an exciting project. I didn't want to sign films in a hurry and then regret if they didn't do well. I patiently waited for an interesting film, and I know 'Basanti' is definitely one," Gautham told IANS.
"It's a story set against the backdrop of a college and events that pose a threat to education. We have included some realistic events inspired from recent college incidents to ensure that the film stays as realistic as possible," he added.
Director Chaitanya, who was lauded for his last outing "Banam", has made "Basanti" equally good, says Gautham.
"I don't like to compare my film with 'Banam', but since my director's work was appreciated for the film, I can confidently say 'Basanti' will be equally good. We are almost done with the film's shooting and are planning to release the film by December," said Gautham.
Debutante Alisha Begum has been paired opposite Gautham in the film, which also features Sayaji Shinde, Tanikella Bharani and others in important roles.
