Corinthians defender Gil has ruled out a return to European football despite earning an international call-up by Brazil coach Dunga.
The 27-year-old centre-back was rewarded for his impressive form in Brazil's Serie A by being included in the Selecao squad for September friendlies against Colombia and Ecuador in the US, Xinhua reports.
In an interview with Folha de S. Paulo, Gil said he had no plans to join a big European club after an unhappy spell with France's Valenciennes.
"I don't want to play in Europe anymore," Gil said. "I am happy at Corinthians. I prefer to earn less and be happy where I am.
"I went [to Valenciennes] in 2011 and by December I wanted to leave. There were promises that were unfulfilled. My wife, my son and I were forced to live out of suitcases in a hotel for two months."
Brazil will meet Colombia in Miami Sep 5 before confronting Ecuador in New Jersey four days later.
