Football club Flamengo have named Dorival Junior as their new head coach, just hours after sacking Mauricio Barbieri.
In a brief statement, Flamengo said the 56-year-old would take charge of the first team in their next match against Bahia in Brazil's Serie A championship on Saturday, reports Xinhua news agency.
It will be Dorival's second spell as Flamengo's manager, having also led the club briefly during the 2012-13 season. The 56-year-old has been out of work since being fired by Sao Paulo in March.
Barbieri was dismissed earlier on Friday following the team's Copa do Brasil semi-final defeat to Corinthians on Wednesday.
Flamengo are currently fourth in the 20-team Brazilian Serie A standings, three points behind leaders Sao Paulo with 12 games remaining.
