Former Brazil international defender Leo Moura has joined US second-tier club Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

The 36-year-old announced his decision during a press conference in Rio de Janeiro Monday, ending his 10-year spell with Brazilian giants Flamengo, reported Xinhua.

"After all these years with Flamengo I never imagined I would play for another club," Moura said. "That's why I made the decision to play outside Brazil."

The right-back will play his final match for the club against Botafogo at the Maracana stadium Sunday.

Fort Lauderdale Strikers are partly owned by former Brazil great Ronaldo, who is said to have played a major role in the signing.

Moura earned a solitary cap for Brazil in a 2008 friendly against Ireland.

His first match for the Florida-based team will be against the New York Cosmos April 4.
