Bulgaria and Serbia would build a reverse gas interconnector by 2017, Bulgarian Minister for Economy and Energy Dragomir Stoynev said Monday.
The minister said it during a press conference after meeting with his Serbian counterpart Zorana Mihajlovic.
Currently, Bulgaria relies on Russia for 96 percent of its gas needs through a single pipeline.
The minister said the reverse gas link would provide security of the natural gas supplies for both Bulgaria and Serbia.
Serbia approximates such a link between the two countries could be completed by the end of 2016, the minister said.
In 2014, Bulgaria was able to put into operation a gas interconnector with Romania.
