German first division side Frankfurt has announced that Armin Veh will leave the Eagles at the end of the season.

Armin Veh took the helm at Frankfurt in July 2011 to lead the club from second division into the Bundesliga. With Veh in charge, the club secured an outstanding sixth place in the top flight, ensuring a ticket for the UEFA Europa League where FC Porto eliminated them on the away-goal rule last week.

However, the 53-year-old coach decided not to extend his contract, which expires in the summer after three years, reported Xinhua.

"Armin Veh informed us about his decision in training camp in January but for sporting reasons we decided to wait with the announcement. He had a tremendous success in three years and his work will be successfully continued until the end of the season," Frankfurt's chairman Heribert Bruchhagen said.

Veh added: "From my experience in the last year, I wanted an early decision. The board has determined the moment of the official announcement. It is important for me that we reach our goal this season. That is to leave at least three teams behind us."

Frankfurt currently is on 12th position with 25 points. The Eagles encounter relegation threatened Hamburg at the 24th round Saturday.
