BSES Yamuna Power Ltd (BYPL), one of the three electricity distribution companies (discoms) in Delhi, on Sunday deployed an advanced Distribution Management System (DMS) in the Mayur Vihar area of the capital as part of efforts to automate the entire process of electricity management, the company said.
"It will intelligently monitor power supply and reduce fault restoration time by over 50 per cent," the company said in a statement.
The DMS, which centrally monitors the distribution network, allows system anomalies to be flagged in real time, assisting in early remedial action, BSES said.
It will "increase quality and reliability of power supply for around 1 lakh residents in Mayur Vihar," said the statement.
The system, developed in-house by BSES, was inaugurated by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
"Under DMS, all the sixty 11 KV sub-stations in the area will be controlled remotely. The pilot project has cost around Rs 1.8 crore. After Mayur Vihar, DMS will be rolled-out in other areas in phases," BYPL Chief Executive P.R. Kumar said in a statement.
