The union cabinet Friday approved the National Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) policy which aims to help 158.7 million children aged under six, an official statement said.
According to the statement, the move would help to implement and monitor the child care policy through national and state councils and also to develop the curriculum and quality standards for the preparation of action plans.
Power would be delegated to the Ministry of Women and Child Development to make necessary changes.
The aim the policy is the provision of inclusive, equitable and contextualized opportunities for promoting optimal development and active learning capacity of all children below six years of age.
