Union Cabinet Secretary Pradeep Kumar Sinha was on Monday given a year's extension in service, said an official statement.
"The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved extension in service to Pradeep Kumar Sinha, IAS, as Cabinet Secretary for a further period of one year beyond June 12, 2017," said a Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions Ministry statement.
Sinha, a 1977 batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, had assumed office in June 2015.
His predecessor Ajit Seth was given two extensions by the government.
