A car bomb exploded near a security checkpoint in a major town in northeastern Nigeria killing six people, police said Thursday.
The explosion occurred in Fika Town Wednesday, said state police chief Marcus Danladi, who noted the explosive device was hidden in a car heading to an unknown destination.
"The six casualties were the people in the bomb-fitted car," Xinhua quoted him as saying.
Yobe is one of the three northeastern states in Nigeria where an emergency rule, declared by President Goodluck Jonathan, continues.
