A case was lodged on Thursday against an RJD legislator in connection with a violent clash between two castes in which over a dozen were injured during the idol immersion after Saraswati Puja in Bihar's Bhojpur district, police said.
According to the police officials in Bhojpur, the clash took place in Badhara and both sides opened fire in which some people were injured.
Bhojpur Superintendent of Police Avkash Kumar said that two separate FIRs have been lodged out of which one is against RJD legislator Saroj Yadav. "In one FIR lodged by people of Keshopur village, Saroj Yadav, RJD legislator has been named as the accused," he said.
The villagers of Bhakura shouted 'Lalu Zindabad' and 'Lalu tum lado, hum saath hai' during the procession. "When people of Bhakura village during the procession shouted slogans in favour of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, it was objected by people of Keshopur village. After that villagers belonging to two different castes clashed and opened fire on each other," a district police official said.
However, Saroj Yadav said that he was framed by his rivals as he had nothing to do with the clash.
