Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday accused the central government of indulging in "goondagirdi" after police detained his deputy for trying to meet the family of a retired soldier who committed suicide.
"The central government is intent on goondagirdi," a visibly angry Kejriwal told journalists after reaching Lady Hardinge Hospital where the body of Ram Kishan Grewal had been taken for autopsy.
"I am the Chief Minister of Delhi. An ex-serviceman has committed suicide. Is it not my duty to meet the grieving family?" Kejriwal asked.
The Aam Aadmi Party leader said he was determined to meet the family members of Grewal who themselves had been detained at a police station.
Also detained was Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi was also stopped from meeting Grewal's family and was also at a police station.
