The central government Friday extended an agreement to suspend operations against the pro-talk National Democratic Front of Boroland (Progressive) for six months, an official statement said.

The Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement agreement will remain effective till June 30, 2015.

"This followed tripartite talks with the representatives of NDFB (P) Dec 22. The meeting was attended by officials of the Assam government and the union Home Ministry," the statement said.

National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) traces its origin to Bodo Security Force, a militant group formed in 1986. The current name NDFB was adopted in 1994. The NDFB was first banned Nov 23, 2002.

The group suffered a major split in 2008 when founder chairman Ranjan Daimary went ahead with serial blasts, prompting secretary Gobinda Basumatary to break away and set up NDFB (P).
