A group of AIIMS faculty members belonging to SC, ST and OBC communities on Thursday urged the central government to probe the alleged violation of the reservation policy in the country's premier health institute.
In a letter to union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, they said: "We demand that till the violation of reservation policy in current faculty selection is investigated by appropriate body, results should be kept in abeyance."
They alleged that the AIIMS administration last month violated the government's reservation policy while selecting faculty.
"If after due investigation the violation of reservation policy is proven, then this selection should be made null and void and repeat advertisement of the faculty posts should be done with due implementation of reservation policy as per government of India."
The group accused the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) administration of "repeated blatant violation" of the principles of B.R. Ambedkar.
"Repeated blatant violation of the principles and beliefs of Babasaheb by the AIIMS administration in the capital city is affront to this celebration and to the constitution of India."
The group further said AIIMS has a "long history" of denying due rights and discriminating against SC, ST and OBC students, staff and faculty members and urged Nadda to investigate the matter.
