Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said his government was working sincerely towards a solution to the decades-old Naga issue.
Modi, who met a 18-member delegation of Nagaland legislators led by Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang, assured them of his government's unflinching commitment to development of the entire northeast region.
According to an official statement, the delegation assured the prime minister of their firm commitment to the Naga peace process.
The delegation, which had legislators from across the political spectrum, told Modi that the people of Nagaland were committed to peace and sought an early settlement to the "Naga political issue".
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was present at the meeting that took place here.
