A Chandigarh Police officer shot his wife dead with his service revolver Friday at the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH) in Sector 16 here following an altercation.
The victim worked in the hospital.
The police officer tried to escape from the spot but was nabbed by a Chandigarh Police constable present there.
Eyewitnesses told police the accused had an argument with his wife for 15 minutes outside the new OPD block after which he pulled out his weapon and shot her from close range.
Police officers said they are investigating the incident.
