Chandigarh shot-putter Karan Jasjit Monday complained of discrimination after being barred from participating in the ongoing 54th National Open Athletics Championships here despite claiming to have his name registered on time.

"The organisers have omitted my name from the final entry list despite me successfully enrolling my name today. I was the 18th name on the list but the final list released by organisers had only 17 names," Jasjit told IANS.

Jasjit added that he was a bit late to enrol his name Monday after arriving at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium somewhat late but claimed to have enlisted his name well before his event began.

"There was supposed to be a qualifying round for the event but owing to the low number of entries, the organisers decided to hold a direct final. There were only 18 entrants including me but inexplicably the organisers struck out my name," the 23-year-old said.

"I admit I was a bit late. But the final was scheduled to occur late in the afternoon and they could have surely included my name."

West Bengal's Kasish Khanna won gold in the event with a throw of 18.59 metres.
