Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu Wednesday studied the best urban practices in Singapore on the first day of his three-day visit to the city-state.

Naidu, his two cabinet colleagues and officials accompanying him, visited the Marina Bay Sands Sky Park and Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC).

He met Second Minister (Trade and Industry) S. Iswaran and discussed the opportunities in Andhra Pradesh, an official release said here.

CLC executive director Khoo Teng Chye explained to Naidu the best urban planning practices of the city-state.

Naidu reviewed and studied the best measures taken by Singapore to conserve and manage drinking water, their integrated efforts to minimise solid waste through recycling, purchase of recycled products and provision of waste audits.

He also met experts from the national water agency, the Public Utilities Board (PUB) of Singapore, which is the sole body responsible for the collection, production, distribution and reclamation of water in the city.

The chief minister also took a river cruise from Clarke Quay into Marina Bay to study the Singapore river clean-up measures and understand the development of the Singapore River Tourism District.

This will help Andhra Pradesh in developing its capital on the river front and also give a fillip to boost beach tourism in the state.
