A Congress leader on Friday gave a clean chit to former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on the allegation of indiscipline against him.
"Chandy is not just a state leader but a very tall national leader of our party. Ours is a democratic party and everyone has their opinion and he (Chandy) has not indulged in any indiscipline Aat all and the question of taking any action does not arise," said Congress National Secretary Deepak Babria to questions from the media if the party high command will take action against Chandy.
Chandy had reportedly been unhappy with the party's top leadership after it named V.M. Sudheeran as the state party president in February 2014.
This unhappiness was aggravated when the party high command put their foot down when it came to selection of candidates to the May 2016 assembly polls and further worsened last month when his close aides were left out when the 14 district party chiefs were announced.
Since then, the political affairs committee meeting of the state Congress has been unable to meet, with Chandy deciding not to attend it.
However, a meeting has been called on January 14 with Sudheeran fixing the date after taking concurrence of the high command.

Sources close to Chandy however said that he will not take part as he is badly hurt in the way the party leadership has gone about doing things and is in no mood to relent against Sudheeran, who took an active role in policy when Chandy was Chief Minister, especially in the liquor policy, leading to closure of more than 700 bars attached to various hotels in the state and causing innumerable problems for the state government.
