The BJP-led Chhattisgarh government will replicate the Punjab government's flagship 'Sangat Darshan' model of public welfare and development in the central Indian state.

"Highly impressed by the success of pro-people exercise of 'Sangat Darshan', a brainchild of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, the Chhattisgarh government has decided to replicate this model of public welfare and development in the state," a spokesman of the Chief Minister's Office said here on Thursday.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh sent a high-level team, led by two IAS officers, to Punjab to understand the basics of the exercise undertaken exclusively in Punjab, the spokesman said.

The team from Chhattisgarh attended the 'Sangat Darshan' held by Punjab Chief Minister Badal at Kalanaur in Gurdaspur district.

"Both senior IAS officers minutely observed this exercise in which the Chief Minister directly interacts with the masses to redress their grievances and give fillip to development. During the 'Sangat Darshan', the officers had detailed discussions with the officers of the state and district administration," he said.

The team was impressed by the fact that a Chief Minister of a state visits every village to meet the people by undertaking such a comprehensive exercise.

"The scheme is of great help to any government for mitigating the woes of common man. This massive public outreach programme is a wonderful exercise," the officers told media.

Badal's 'Sangat Darshan' programme is aimed at taking the government to the doorstep of the common people, especially in villages.
