A nine-month-old child, abducted by his family's neighbour for adoption by his childless brother-in-law, was rescued Wednesday and the kidnappers arrested, police said.
Giving details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nitin Tiwari said that Tuesday night Ramesh quietly abducted Vansh, his neighbour's son, while he was playing in the neighbourhood.
When the child remained missing for a long time, his father Manoj tried to find him but in vain. He then informed the local Sihani Gate police.
Acting promptly, police picked up Ramesh for questioning. During sustained interrogation, Ramesh confessed his crime and revealed he had abducted the child for his childless brother-in- law Ashok. On his tip-off, police recovered the child from Lal Kuan area but Ashok was not found.
"The child has been recovered while Ashok's mother and wife - Santa and Santhla respectively - have been arrested along with Ramesh while Ashok is absconding," said the SSP.
Ramesh said Ashok married his sister about 12 years ago, but the couple could not get any child and their matrimonial relations started getting strained. One day, Ashok asked him to arrange for a child, and so he abducted the son of his neighbour and delivered him to Ashok's residence.
