Dozens of child asylum seekers, formerly from "The Jungle" camp in the French port town of Calais, have launched a legal challenge to UK Home Secretary Amber Rudd, a media report said on Thursday.

Lawyers said that 28 of them want written reasons for the determination that it was not in their "best interests" to be relocated to the UK, the BBC reported.

However, a Home Office spokeswoman said on Wednesday, "It would be inappropriate to comment on ongoing legal proceedings."

Eleven of those refused entry are aged 14, seven are 15, nine are 16 and one is 17. Sixteen of them are from Eritrea, 11 from Afghanistan and one is from Sudan.

Eight more waiting to have their cases determined are also involved in the legal bid, media reports say.

They were dispersed to 15 reception centres around France when the Calais camp was dismantled at the end of October.
