Efforts to reattach a leg of a five-year-old child, who had put it inside a washing machine, have failed, a doctor said Friday.
Despite repeated surgeries, doctors could not reattach the child's right foot.
"Despite sincere efforts, we could not reattach the leg and it had to be amputated below the knee," plastic surgeon Anupam Golash said.
The child's father said the freak accident occurred late last month.
"The door lock of the washing machine had malfunctioned which allowed him to put in his leg. It was only for a few seconds but his leg was almost severed," he said.
