The chairmen's meeting of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's top political advisory body, has proposed an annual session in March 2016.
It will be the fourth annual session of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, the Global Times reported.
The CPPCC Standing Committee will deliberate on a draft proposal.
Top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng presided over the meeting on Sunday, where he said 2016 is a key year for building a moderately prosperous society.
The CPPCC should focus on implementing innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared development, contributing to the country's economic and social development through political consultation, democratic supervision, as well as participation in and discussion of state affairs, he added.
