China stocks go down on Tuesday

Chinese stocks slid further on Tuesday amid a global rout.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index opened at 3,004.13 points, down 6.41 percent, following the 8.49-percent loss on Monday. The Shenzhen Component Index opened 6.91 percent lower at 10,212.47 points, reported Xinhua news agency.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, opened 7.27 percent lower at 1,996.04 points.

Stocks on other Asian markets too fell at the opening. Japan's Nikkei 225 Index fell 2 percent, following Monday's 4.61-percent loss. The Hong Kong Hang Seng Index shed 0.6 percent after losing more than 5 percent on Monday.

Overnight, The Dow Jones Industrial Average tumbled 588.47 points, or 3.58 percent, to 15,871.28. The S&P 500 shed 77.68 points, or 3.94 percent, to 1,893.21. The Nasdaq Composite Index sank 179.79 points, or 3.82 percent, to 4,526.25.

European equities also dived on Monday following previous session's deep decline, as the Stoxx Europe 600 was down over 6 percent and Germany's DAX fell 4 percent.
