Las Vegas, Jan 6 (IANS/EFE) Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer TCL has announced that it will unveil a new television model with a curved screen which uses ultra high definition 4K technology and measures 110 inches, putting it in the Guinness record books for the world's largest television.
In a statement Monday on the eve of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) here, the company also revealed its plan to show another 55-inch 4K television which boasts of quantum dot technology.
The world's largest television, known as 110" 4K UHD Curved TV, has an (light emitting diode) LED-backlit LCD (liquid-crystal display) screen and will offer a 3D viewing experience without the use of special glasses.
The 55-inch model, known as 55" 4K UHD Quantum Dot TV, has light-emitting nanocrystals -- known as quantum dots -- in the LCD screen, which will give a better image quality without higher cost compared to OLED (organic light emitting diode) televisions, TCL stated.
CES, considered the world's premier consumer technology showcase, opens Tuesday for three days in Las Vegas where over 3,600 companies from 140 countries are expected to participate.
