A Chinese multinational telecommunications equipment and network solutions provider said it has successfully defended a patent infringement case in a German court in Dusseldorf brought by the country's subsidiary of a US-based firm.

"ZTE Corporation welcomes the decisions of the District Court of Dusseldorf ("Landgericht Dusseldorf") which ruled in its favour in a patent litigation with Vringo Germany GmbH, a subsidiary of Vringo Inc., New York", the Chinese company said in a statement.

The company said the city's district court rejected Vringo's claims on infringement over two patents that allegedly related to hotspot functionality in mobile devices and the use of Google Maps respectively.

"We are very pleased with this decision and remain committed to defending ourselves against dubious intellectual property claims that could not only hurt our business but our customers," the company's chief intellectual property officer Shen Jianfeng said.

ZTE said it has completed dozens of global intellectual property licensing agreements with holders including Ericsson, Siemens, Dolby Laboratories, Qualcomm and Microsoft.
