Chinese shares open lower on Monday

Chinese stocks opened lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.02 per cent to open at 2,897.27 points.

The smaller Shenzhen index opened 1.22 per cent lower at 10,190.78 points. The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was down 1.65 per cent to open at 2,150.39 points, Xinhua reported.
