A student appearing in the Class 10 secondary examination died and two girl examinees were badly injured in a road accident in West Bengal's Hooghly district on Thursday, police said.
Police said all three victims are Madhyamik (secondary examination conducted by the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education) aspirants and were on their way to the examination centre when the accident happened.
Janbaj Ansari died while two of his friends were severely injured when a lorry crashed into their bike, a police officer said.
"The two injured girls, both students of Binodini Girls High School in Hoogly district's Chinsurah, were admitted to the Chinsurah Hospital," he said.
Police said the lorry driver fled from the spot after the accident.
"The hunt for the accused driver is on," the officer added.
