At a time when cyber attacks are growing worldwide, Cloud security has become a top concern for the chief information security officers (CISOs) in India, a new Symantec survey said on Wednesday.

Covering 1,100 CISOs across 11 global markets, the survey on the state of enterprise data security revealed that CISOs in India are particularly concerned about their ability to respond quickly to attacks.

As enterprises become more reliant on Cloud, it is becoming increasingly difficult for CISOs to secure sensitive company data.

"To bolster information security, 93 per cent of Indian CISOs plan to increase spending on IT staff security training this year. New IT employees will undergo 20 hours of security training during their onboarding process," the survey showed.

Almost all Indian CISOs believe that ensuring Cloud applications meet compliance regulations is one of the most stressful aspects of their job.

"The need for data security, compliance and residency is also driving Indian CISOs to look for encryption and/or tokenisation solutions to support their Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) initiatives," the survey showed.

Despite such measures, security challenges remain.

Cyber-criminal use flaws in legitimate operating systems, tools and Cloud services to compromise networks.

"Addressing cloud security holistically creates operational efficiency and allows Indian CISOs to take full advantage of the cloud. This approach guarantees their information is secure and protected in this data-driven era," the Symantec survey said.
