Northern Districts suffered a dramatic batting collapse as they went down by 86 runs to Hobart Hurricanes in the Champions League T20 cricket tournament at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium here Tuesday.
Chasing a taget of 179, a top order batting collapse saw Northern Districts reduced to 4/19. Scott Styris (37) and Tim Southee (21) tried to do the repair act but the Northern Hurricanes lost their last six wickets for 33 runs and they were skittled out for 92 runs in 16.4 overs
Pacers Doug Bollinger (3/22) and Ben Hilfenhaus (3/14) bagged three wickets each while Xavier Doherty and Joe Mennis got two wickets each.
Kiwi veteran Styris and Southee were the only two batsmen from Northern Districts to get to double figures.
Earlier in the day, a strong batting performance saw Hobart put up a challenging total of 178 for three in 20 overs.
Aiden Blizzard starred with a whirlwind 65 off 43 balls while former Pakistan captain Shoaib Mallik came up with a cameo of unbeaten 45 in 22 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes.

Skipper Tim Paine gave Hobart a good start with a quickfire 43 off 34 balls with six fours and a six.
